Creating a beautiful life one mini at a time..........

As promised

Okay so I finished the little table. I promised to share it here today and I do hope you love it. It is cold and rainy here making the pictures more of a challenge. Miniatures have been and continue to be such a important part of my life. I do hope a little bit of me shows in everything I make. I have worked very hard to have my own style and some very good miniature friends have reminded me just what being a good and true friend means. You know who you are. Thank you. You really mean so much to me. I hope you all are having a nice weekend and finding your own miniature creating time. Mini hugs~

It looks amazing Kim!! What you have done with "shabby" over the years is an inspiration to many :)

Oh Kim, your table turned out so wonderful! I love every sweet little detail!!

I just have to tell you, I ate a princess cake at Ikea yesterday. It tasted okay, but it wasn't nearly as pretty as the mini ones you make and the real ones your family buys for you!! I always think of you and your princess cakes when I see those. I always think, "Oh why can't they make them as pretty as Kim's??!!"

Hugs,
Jill

You indeed have successfully created an identifiable style of your own!

Kim, I love it as much as I love everything you do. Sometimes I take out of my stash the sweets you sent to me and I simply look at them and play with them and it's so mind soothing.Definitely you have reached your style which is immediately recognizable and it's simply delightful.Have a nice day and abetter week. Kim,

I wanted to provide you some constructive criticism, and I don't want to start a drama in blogville. I think you need some advice and I hope you take it and try and see the good in it. Your work is gorgeous, as are many others. I bought a couple of items from you and love them. I wanted to let you know why I stopped buying. I saw a few posts back something that really turned me off and now I see it again on your post. I've been a miniature collector for 10 years and spend a lot of money doing so, I collect from about 20 people on ebay and etsy. I never haggle prices and always pay that second. But the second you claim that you have your own style , I get my dander up. What is that about? Do you give credit to Rachel Ashwell for shabby chic? No way! Shabby chic was given a name by her, but that style existed way before she did. I've been buying cakes for years from Betsy Niederer, and her talents are incredible, she's an inspiration to many! But did you copy her? No of course not! People get inspired by many things, but craftsmanship is a whole different thing. Be confident in your craftsmanship and don't worry about what other people are saying. I see what you are calling your look everywhere. But I'm sorry to say, that isn't your look exclusively. That would be like saying: If you decorated your house in Shabby Chic you're copying Rachel Ashwel , that is absurd. I think for you to assume you have exclusivity to any style is very presumptuous and frankly , shows a very competitive side to you that I think isn't necessary. I've seen you change your own look lately. I hope it's to follow the trends in the miniature world because that would be smart business. It's the style of decorating in very feminine homes or anyone who fancy's pink or shabby chic. So relax and be confident in your talents. I've bought some gorgeous items in the last few weeks and will continue to do so, but I buy from confident people who don't claim to own a style, they are talented artists who are inspired by the process of making something for us to buy that has a look to it I prefer. You work hard to create beautiful things and I think they can stand on their own without the drama. One of the most talented people here in miniature blogville is Liberty Biberty, she doesn't see the need to ever claim anything as hers, just that she gets inspired and that shows confidence and a love for miniatures and she doesn't use her blog like others to sell herself. But if she sold her items, I'd be first in line! Just be you and stop encouraging drama about it. I hope you take what I'm saying as constructive, you are too good to worry about it, just make miniatures and do what you do best.

@ Linda Your point is well taken. I think "style "was the wrong word and didn't really mean anything bad by it. I'm sorry you felt I did. I actually want to " Thank you" for reminding that there is room for all and that no one owns a style. Its about creativity and we are all inspired by things everyday. That is truly how I have always felt maybe just forgot it for a little while. I will not forget again because feeling that way is really who I am.

Kim,

I wanted to let you know your response showed class and honesty. I meant nothing negative either, I think I've just gotten upset when people in blogville get their dander up about a certain look. I decided to do my blog for only family now because someone said my page was like theirs. How silly, it was just page on a computer and wasn't , just similar colors. Tough crowd sometimes here lol. Kudo's to you for being able to look at something and grab the good! I'll be back to buying soon. Your talents speak for themselves and they don't need words of protection.

All of life is a learning experience and when we go forward without fear, and we're open to learning more, that is the exact point where we learn the most.

Your work has always been gorgeous and always will be!

Linda

A beautiful table, it must have taken ages. You have the talent to take an idea and give it a unique twist of your own. Nothing is new any more but it's how we pick up an idea and move forward with it. You are one of my favourite makers, bloggers, and friend.
A fullsize hug! Gill x

Mini-mixers are my favorite miniature item. Your cookies look absolutely delectable, and every detail - the sugary frostings, the black and white cookies - you absolutely nailed it Kim!

Cheers!
